Introduction
This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes our group’s slavery and human trafficking statement for the financial year ending 31 March 2024.
Our business, structure and supply chains
Giggling Squid is a Thai restaurant group operating across England specialising in cooking a range of original Thai dishes using the diverse ingredients found across Thailand.
Giggling Squid is a trading name of Chokdee Limited which itself is a wholly owned subsidiary of Giggling Restaurants Limited and that this statement is made on behalf of the group as a whole.
We opened our first restaurant in 2002 and currently operate over 47 restaurants. We employ over 1,500 employees who are all directly employed rather than agency staff.
Our supply chain includes sellers of direct ingredients and wholesalers from the UK and the rest of the world as well as suppliers of business necessities such as office suppliers and technical support.
Due diligence and policies on modern slavery and human trafficking
We consider that the company is run in an ethical manner and we work to key values such as integrity, quality and treating everyone fairly and this ethos runs through our business decisions including employment policies and supply chain management.
We have long-standing, close relationships with suppliers and prioritise quality and provenance. We continue to monitor suppliers that we believe may present high modern slavery risks in our supply chain.
Effectiveness of measures taken and looking ahead
We are committed to continuously improving our practices to eliminate any slavery and human trafficking in the supply chain and to act ethically and with integrity in all business relationships.
Over the course of the next financial year we will be implementing new policies, training and key performance indicators to help us identify, prevent and mitigate any risks of modern slavery or human trafficking in relation to new and existing suppliers and in relation to our own operations.
